Eco-Friendly Lunch Packing Ideas
Take your lunch packing skills to a new level. Check out my list of must-haves to help you assemble an eco-friendly, portable spread for your life on the go!
1. A Good Sized Tote
Start with a nice sized tote - no small bags here! We want something that will hold all of the lunch containers as well as even reading material or e-reader to have a little downtime on your lunch break. The Mini Tote by Tandem For Two fits the bill and it can be washed if you ever have spills and you’ll feel so much better than throwing away paper bags.
2. Reusable Containers
Our family utilizes eco-friendly containers for packing all of our lunch items that are dishwasher safe. I love these compartmentalized containers by Sistema that help with portion control too. I even found reusable ziploc-style bags by Boon Supply that stay closed and making packing snacks easy.
3. A Refillable Water Bottle
We dispose of too much plastic these days, so be good to the environment with a water bottle that is refillable. You should be drinking half your weight in ounces of water each day anyway, so fill up during the day! This metal tumbler by Corkcicle is my favorite since it keeps things really hot or cold and keeps ice lasting all day long!
4. Notes or a Reminders List
I love to tuck notes into my kids lunches and having a pad of paper and pen handy when making lunches makes it quick and easy. Or maybe your spouse needs some encouragement or you need a reminder, so jot it down when making lunch! Pens made by Poppin coordinate perfect with Tandem For Two notepads.
5. Cloth Napkins
If we want to complete our eco-friendly lunch then we need to stop throwing away paper napkins each day! Cloth napkins can be thrown in the wash each week and since you have a handy tote, bringing them home will be easy. Cloth napkins from Tandem For Two even brighten up your lunch!
