There's More to Las Vegas Than Gambling
Las Vegas might be famous for its casinos and nightlife, but if you're not into gambling, there's so much more to explore beyond the slot machines and poker tables. When I visited Vegas during my husband's conference, I discovered there are plenty of cool things to do that don’t involve gambling. Here are some of my top picks for a fun, non-gambling adventure.
Check Out The Neon Museum
Ever wondered what happens to all those old Vegas signs? Head over to The Neon Museum, also known as the "Neon Boneyard," where you can see over 200 vintage neon signs from the city’s past. Walking through this outdoor museum feels like stepping back in time and the guided tours are packed with interesting tidbits about Vegas history.
Stroll Down Fremont Street
Fremont Street is where the old-school Vegas vibe comes alive. This downtown hotspot is packed with street performers, live music, and some seriously impressive light shows on the giant Viva Vision screen overhead.
Catch Some Live Jazz
If you're a fan of live music, especially jazz, Las Vegas has some great spots to check out. The Dispensary Lounge is a hidden gem known for its intimate vibe and top-notch jazz performances. It’s been around since the '70s and still has that old Vegas charm. Another cool spot is The Jazz Lounge, where you can enjoy smooth tunes and classic cocktails in a laid-back setting. But my favorite by far was the cabaret club feel of Myron's at the Smith Center - such a great space and wonderful bands to enjoy.
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
Need a break from the buzz of the Strip? Stroll through the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens for a peaceful, beautiful escape. The garden changes its floral displays every season, and it’s always stunning—plus, it’s free to visit, making it a perfect stop to relax and recharge.
Ride The High Roller
Want to see Las Vegas from above? Hop on The High Roller, the world’s tallest observation wheel. The 30-minute ride gives you epic views of the city, whether you go during the day or at night when the lights are twinkling. It’s a great way to take in the whole Vegas skyline.
Hike Red Rock Canyon
Need a break from the city? Red Rock Canyon is just a short drive from the Strip and offers a perfect escape into nature. With its dramatic red cliffs and scenic trails, it's a great spot for hiking, rock climbing, or just enjoying a peaceful drive through the desert. The views are stunning, and it's a fantastic way to get some fresh air.
Vegas has so much more to offer than just gambling. Whether you're into history, nature, music, or just looking for something different to do, this city has something for everyone. So next time you’re in Las Vegas, step off the casino floor and explore some of these awesome spots—you won’t be disappointed!
