I love historical places and the exciting vibe of a big city, and Boston is the perfect combination of both. My family stayed in the North End, also known as Little Italy (although the locals don’t call it that) and we loved the wonderful neighborhood feel. Cobblestone streets, narrow alleys, great architecture, historic sites and the food - oh the food!

My family picks own our apples each year and we make applesauce! We always pick a variety and I use a mixture of all kinds. Some apples cook down more than others (MacIntosh, Jonagold, Gala and Empire) and some stay firmer (Granny Smith, Fuji, Mutsu, Red Delicious and Northern Spy) and I love to have both in my chunky homemade applesauce.

It’s crazy what a difference a year makes. I am a bit introspective this month, so I’ve been thinking about how much our lives can change, for better or worse, in the span of a year.

My sister has the knack for finding out of the way places that are new for us to explore. The quaint town of Ogunquit along Maine’s coast is no exception. It’s probably well-known on the East Coast, but to us Midwestern gals, it was a wonderful surprise.
